President Cyril Ramaphosa is yet to respond to the public protector's findings that he violated the Constitution when he misled Parliament about a R500 000 donation to his campaign to lead the African National Congress (ANC) in 2017.

On Friday, Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane released her findings on Ramaphosa's involvement with African Global Operations (AGO), formerly known as Bosasa - one of the companies at the centre of State capture allegations.

Her report indicated that Ramaphosa misled Parliament in relation to the R500 000 donation he received from AGO.

Mkhwebane said there was prima facie evidence on money laundering suspicion in relation to the donations Ramaphosa received.

Mkhwebane said the money went through several intermediaries, instead of a going straight to the CR17 campaign. The money went into the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation account from where it was also transferred to other beneficiaries.

Mkhwebane said the President abused his position and violated the ethics code by enriching himself when accepting donations from AGO

She said she made findings that Ramaphosa personally benefited from the donation.

"I have evidence which indicate that some of the money collected through the CR17 campaign trust account was also transferred the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation account from where it was also transferred to other beneficiaries," Mkhwebane said.

The campaign team has said Ramaphosa did not know the identities of the donors. However before elections Ramaphosa had a banquet with them where they met.

Mkhwebane said Ramaphosa was bound by the Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure of Members' Interests for Assembly and Permanent Council Members, to declare such financial interests.

In her recommendations, Mkhwebane requested the speaker of Parliament to reprimand Ramaphosa for misleading Parliament regarding the request for donations received during his campaign to lead the African National Congress.

Mkhwebane also requested the Director of Public Prosecutions to further investigate possible money laundering activities linked to the accounts used to make the donation.
