The Hawks' National Clean Audit Task Team is preparing to arrest 62 eThekwini councillors as part of a swoop to fight fraud and corruption in the municipality.

On Tuesday, Gumede handed herself over to the Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal and appeared in the Durban Regional Commercial Crimes Court.

Gumede faced corruption charges related to a R208-million tender and was granted a R50 000 bail on Wednesday.

Trump to send delegation to attend Ramaphosa's inauguration

The White House announced that it would send a delegation to the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa next Saturday. However, US President Donald Trump will not bless the occasion with his presence.

The Trump administration had an uneasy relationship with Africa, following vulgar utterances by Trump which were condemned by South African politicians.

Ramaphosa's inauguration next Saturday, at Loftus Versfeld, will cost the South African taxpayer about R120-million.

And, SA business delegation heads to Uganda to explore trade and investment opportunities

A group of 25 South African business people were in high spirits ahead of their departure to Uganda, to explore trade and investment opportunities in the agro-processing, capital equipment, energy and furniture sectors in the East African country.

The delegation will participate in the Outward Trade and Investment Mission to Kampala from May 19 to 24 May.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, said the main objective of the mission is to increase bilateral trade and investment between South Africa and Uganda.
