Tomorrow, Tuesday 16th February 2019, the DA Northern Cape Premier Candidate, Andrew Louw, and Western Cape Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs, and Development Planning, Anton Bredell, accompanied by DA Sol Plaatje councillors, will conduct an oversight inspection at the Homevale Water Purification Plant.
A lack of maintenance and development of the Sol Plaatje sewerage system has resulted in numerous areas in and around Kimberley becoming engulfed in waste.
At the DA’s last attempt to visit the plant, we were blocked by Sol Plaatje municipality, who stated that the plant was out of bounds due to maintenance work. This time around, we are determined to inspect the plant.
The residents of Kimberley deserve to live in a safe environment, free from sewerage spills and the putrid fumes of fermenting waste.
Details of the event are as follows:
Date: 16 April 2019
Time: 10:30
Venue: Homevale Waste Water Purification Plant, Homevale
There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
