Taking a cue from the MEC for Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs Sihle Zikalala, the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone in partnership with Umhlathuze Municipality will be hosting a Small, Micro and Medium Enterprise Engagement Seminar (SMME Seminar) on the 20th of March 2018.
Recently, during the Entrepreneurship Summit Zikalala announced that R57 million has been set aside to support co-operatives and small business enterprises.
This is specially aimed at fast-tracking the entry of these small players into the mainstream economy through the Radical Agrarian Socio-Economic Transformation programme.
For its part, RBIDZ CEO Pumi Motsoahae has extended an invitation Co-Operatives and SMMEs in King Cetshwayo District Municipality to be part of this seminar.
He remarked: “We are doubling our efforts to ensure that RBIDZ becomes a catalyst for radical economic transformation. It is very important to note that RBIDZ has evolved over the years, in the process, changing the face of Richards Bay and the province as a whole.
"Foreign Direct Investment continues to flow into RBIDZ, with emerging entrepreneurs becoming integrated into the mainstream economy. Critically, the flow of FDI has resulted in the transfer of much needed skills into the local communities. These are some of the benefits of FDI.”
During this seminar, companies operating from the Zone will unveil opportunities tailor-made for the small players.
Members of the media are invited to attend the event scheduled as follows:-
Date : 20 March 2018
Place : Empangeni Civic Centre, Empangeni
Time : 08h00 to 15h00
