President Zuma handover Botlokwa Bridges

President Jacob Zuma will on Tuesday, 17 October 2017, officially handover the Botlokwa Bridges as part of Government’s broader infrastructure development in Botlokwa, Molemole Municipality in the Limpopo Province.

The Botlokwa Bridges will be made up of one road bridge and two pedestrian bridges on the N1 between Polokwane and Makhado.

The bridges were constructed by South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) to ensure improved road safety for both vehicles and pedestrians.

The N1 Botlokwa freeway is the busiest corridor that links South Africa with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. These include countries such as Zimbabwe, Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.

The official opening of the bridges forms part of the Transport Month-activities led by the Department of Transport.

President Zuma will be joined by Minister of Transport, Mr Joe Maswanganyi.

The proceedings will take place as follows:

Venue: Naughty Boys Sports Ground (Botlokwa)

NB! Members of the media are requested to confirm their attendance not later than, Friday, 13 October 2017 at 16h00 for accreditation purposes. Those journalists who did not confirm on time will not be accredited. Accreditations will take place on Monday, 16 October 2017 at Jack Botas hall in Polokwane from 11h00 and Members of the media will be requested to present their valid press cards when collecting their accreditation as well as at the point of entry to access the venue.

Members of the media, who will need transportation from Polokwane to Botlokwa, should make an indication as part of the confirmation.
