Deputy Minister Buti Manamela will tonight, Monday 15 October bid farewell to 76 hospitality students who will embark on a Work Integrated Learning Programme in China for 12 months. Deputy Minister is expected to encourage the students to represent South Africa with pride during the learning period.
This initiative by CHATHSSETA aims to provide TVET College students mostly from the rural areas of South Africa to have a life-time opportunity of working and being exposed to the Chinese Tourism and Hospitality industry. They will also gain on-the-job experience which would ensure that on their return they stand better chances of securing employment in South Africa.
The first group of students will leave South Africa on Tuesday 16 October 2018. They will be placed at various vocational colleges and hotels in China where they will gain both practical and theoretical experience.
