South African communist Party General Secretary Blade Nzimande criticised the National Prosecuting Authority during his address in the party's Red October rally in Johannesburg yesterday for being lax in prosecuting those implicated in the Gupta email leaks.

With this year’s theme centred on gender-based violence, Nzimande said if the NPA was going to act against violence against women and children, it should also act swiftly against corruption.

He said looting of State-owned enterprises such as Eskom, SABC and PetroSA was weakening the capacity of government to drive a developmental agenda.

The EFF’s Central Command Team took this decision after they met on Saturday after the completion of a disciplinary process.

EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi the Councillors in question contravened the EFF decision not to attend the Mogale City Budget vote Council meeting and voted in favour of the proposed ANC budget.

Mbalula has a go at Maimane

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula lashed out at DA leader Mmusi Maimane about policing in Philippi.

During his address to the DA’s Western Cape congress on Saturday, Maimane said some politicians go to Philippi and grandstand and it should be asked why places like Philippi and Nyanga had lower police allocations than other areas.

Mbalula lashed back saying Mmusi will know, if he cared to visit Marikana that in Marikana there is no electricity, streets, which in main are basic things that allow proper policing.

Mbalula visited the area last week, in the aftermath of shootings that left 18 people killed.
