Gigaba says his resignation is not an admission of guilt

Malusi Gigaba said that despite his resignation as Home Affairs Minister yesterday, he will defend all "matters" that resulted from his term of office.

This comes less than two weeks after the public protector found he had violated the Constitution and Executive Ethics Code by lying under oath.

Gigaba said he resigned after a long period of sustained and vitriolic public attacks on his integrity and added that that his resignation was not an admission of guilt on his part.

The finding by the public protector related to Gigaba’s decision to overturn the approval for the Oppenheimer-owned Fireblade Aviation to operate a private customs and immigration service at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. 

The search for South Africa's next prosecutions boss is underway in Pretoria

The interview process of candidates shortlisted to be the next National Director of Public Prosecutions kicked off at the Union Buildings in Pretoria today.

Following a precedent-setting ruling by the high court, these interviews for the National Prosecuting Authority boss will be open to members of the media, for the first time. 

On Tuesday, the Presidency said the interviews to be conducted by the advisory panel led by Minister of Energy Jeff Radebe would be open to "20 media representatives, in line with a court order to this effect".

Moyane wants to interdict Ramaphosa from filling his post

Axed South African Revenue Service Commissioner Tom Moyane has filed an urgent application with the North Gauteng High Court for urgent relief following his dismissal by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Moyane wants the court to temporarily set aside Ramaphosa's decision and to interdict him from implementing any other recommendations from the Nugent Commission's interim report.

He also wants Ramaphosa to be barred from advertising or filling his former post.
