Jiba did not lie about her qualifications or mislead NPA

Making headlines: Jiba did not lie about her qualifications or mislead NPA, Ayanda Dlodlo found in breach of MPs' ethics code after Dubai hotel stay And, Eskom warns of 'high risk' of load shedding today

There is no evidence that suggests that suspended deputy prosecutions boss Nomgcobo Jiba "in any way misled" the National Prosecuting Authority when it came to her appointment as deputy director of public prosecutions in 2001.

This was the submission which Jiba's counsel made to the Mokgoro inquiry, which is determining her fitness to hold office as well as that of suspended special director of public prosecutions, Lawrence Mrwebi

Jiba's legal team said in written submissions to the inquiry the fact that the recruitment and appointment process for DDPPs adopted by the NPA may be based on an incorrect interpretation of the law is of no consequence to this inquiry.

President Cyril Ramaphosa suspended both Jiba and Mrwebi in October 2018, pending the outcome of the inquiry.

Ayanda Dlodlo found in breach of MPs' ethics code after Dubai hotel stay

Public Service and Administration Minister Ayanda Dlodlo has been found to have breached the Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure of Members' Interests after she failed to disclose a 2015 trip to Dubai where she stayed in the luxurious Oberoi Hotel.

Yesterday, a Joint Committee on Ethics and Members' Interests report on the investigation into Dlodlo was published in Parliament's tablings.

After media reports based on the Gupta Leaks that Dlodlo's stay in Dubai was arranged by Gupta-owned Sahara Computers, and was paid for by Gupta associate Fana Hlongwane, DA MP Phumzile van Damme laid a complaint with the committee in June 2017.

Hlongwane was implicated in former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture report.

Eskom warns of 'high risk' of load shedding today

Eskom has announced there is a high risk of rotational load shedding today, saying the power system is constrained.

The power utility called on customers to switch off all non-essential appliances to decrease pressure on the national grid.

The utility on Monday also warned of a high risk of power cuts, but these were not implemented.
