Ramaphosa says he knows South Africa wants closure

After the ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa postponed an ANC National Executive Committee meeting last week that would have decided President Jacob Zuma's fate, he promised that Monday's NEC meeting would resolve the matter of what the ANC terms the "transition".

Ramaphosa delivered an address at the Nelson Mandela Centenary celebration on the Grand Parade in Cape Town, from the same spot where he held Mandela's microphone 28 years ago where the South African icon delivered his first speech after his release.

ANC treasurer general Paul Mashatile also told churchgoers at a Gugulethu church that the ruling party was sorting out President Jacob Zuma's future, and assured them that "Zuma will go".

Mkhwebane summoned to parliament for urgent meeting on Vrede report

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been summoned to appear in Parliament to explain her statements in recent weeks over the Vrede Dairy Farm report.

Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services decided to urgently call Mkhwebane to appear before the committee to explain comments she made about not having the capacity or financial resources to investigate information relating to the Gupta leaks.

The committee’s chairperson Dr Mathole Motshekga said the committee was "extremely concerned" with her comments and needed "clarity on what exactly she was trying to convey".

DA warns ANC not to give in to Zuma's 'demands' in exit talks

The DA said it was an insult to South Africans that President Jacob Zuma, according to reports, demanded a host of conditions as part of his removal of president.

The DA’s federal council chairperson James Selfe said yesterday it was unthinkable and an insult to South Africans should Zuma be granted his wishes after breaking his oath of office and disrespecting the constitution.

Selfe said the DA noted reports that Zuma had demanded a host of conditions including state-guaranteed safety for himself and his family, that his security detail remains in place and that his legal fees for current and future legal matters are paid for by the people of South Africa.
