Cash for a R13.5-million property owned by former Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa boss Lucky Montana is linked to a beneficiary of Prasa contracts worth R4-billion.

News24 is reporting that Montana's R13.5-million property in the upmarket Johannesburg suburb of Hurlingham was paid for by a businessman and a lawyer linked to Mario Ferreira, owner of the TMM Holdings group.

According to the report, lawyer Riaan van der Walt and businessman Andre Wagner transferred, altogether, R13.5-million towards the Hurlingham property transaction in 2015 which they both denied.

South African and Indian trade ministers stress bilateral opportunities at summit

India has progressed from having almost no trade with South Africa in 1994 to today being the country's sixth to eight largest trading partner, Trade and Industry Minister Dr Rob Davies said today.

He was addressing the India-South African Business Summit in Sandton.

Davies pointed out that, while trade totaled R68-billion in 2012, it had risen to R107-billion in 2017.

No word on when bus services will resume, as strike enters third week

Trade unions representing workers in the ongoing nationwide bus strike are meeting today to discuss a way forward after negotiations reached a deadlock last week.

The strike has impacted tens of thousands of commuters.

Transport Minister Blade Nzimande and Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant were briefed by parties on their bargaining positions last week Thursday, but their contributions failed to resolve the strike.

That’s a roundup of news making headlines today
