The Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Commission is hosting a roundtable discussion on Black Ownership at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on 15 February 2019.
Members of the B-BBEE Commission and the BEE Advisory Council have identified key areas to focus on in order to create awareness and guide the public, and in this case, have identified the element of Ownership as one of the priority elements. Members have observed various models that are being implemented and debated ways in which black ownership could be broadened to revitalise the township and rural economy, as well as how best to include participation by the poor and the working class in the ownership of productive assets of the economy.
The roundtable is aimed at bringing greater insight and guidance into B-BBEE rules and practices. Discussions will be led by members of the BEE Advisory Council, including its Convenor Koko Khumalo, and council members Dr Thami Mazwai and Chantyl Mulder and members of the B-BBEE Commission; and external perspectives will be from Black Business Council CEO Kganki Matabane, Motseng Investment Holdings CEO/SAPOA President Ipeleng Mkhari, and Founder of Centre for Economic Development & Transformation Duma Gqubule.
